Inflation in Belarus ended 2018 at the highest level all year at 5.6% y/y, and above 4.6% it was in December 2017, National Statistics Committee of Belarus told BelTA on January 11. 

The month-on-month result was a 0.8% rise in consumer prices for goods and services. However, the result was still inside the 2018 inflation target set by the central bank of 6%.

In December 2018 the base index of consumer prices, which does not account for changes in prices for individual goods and services susceptible to administrative and seasonal factors, stood at 0.3% in comparison with November 2018 and 4.8% as against December 2017.

In December 2018 food prices went up by 1.2% m/m and by 5.7% y/y. Non-food prices went down by 0.1% m/m and up by 3.8% y/y. In December 2018 the index of prices for services was up 1.2% m/m and 8.1% y/y.
