AvtoVAZ is considering launching the assembly of a new generation Lada car in Uzbekistan, the president of the Russian company Maxim Sokolov has told TASS.

At the industrial exhibition "Innoprom. Central Asia", Sokolov spoke about current AvtoVAZ plans that might include restarting some auto production facilities in Uzbekistan with a local partner.

"Moreover, it will be the flagship model [that we would produce], the Lada Vesta model of the new generation," Sokolov reportedly said.

He also stated that AvtoVAZ was intending to arrange for the welding of auto parts and car paintshop work on the spot in Uzbekistan, thus deepening localisation. The Russian concern is negotiating with a proposed partner on this issue.

Semi-knocked down assembly (SKD) of Ladas in Uzbekistan started in October 2021. At the ADM Jizzakh factory of Roodell, three models are produced for the local market, namely the Vesta, Largus and XRay.

In June 2022, it was reported that Roodell was preparing to launch a Lada full production cycle.
