Iraqi Minister of Transport Razzaq Al-Saadawi has announced the closure of Iraqi airspace, coinciding with the Iranian strike against Israel.

Iran has now launched two drone waves across its western borders into Iraq, with locals recording dozens of high-pitched Shahid drones, made famous by Russia in 2021 in its war in Ukraine.

Al-Saadawi made a brief comment to the official agency, saying: “Iraqi airspace has been closed and air traffic has stopped.”

Jordan earlier announced it was closing its airspace due to jamming from Israel of GPS and radar ahead of the Iranian attack on the country.

Despite the minister’s comments, Flightradar24 , a website that tracks planes, showed more than ten aircraft are currently in Iraqi airspace including a returning Iraqi Airways flight from Medina.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced in a statement: In response to the numerous crimes of the Zionist regime, including the attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus and the martyrdom of a group of commanders and military advisors of our country in Syria, the IRGC Aerospace Force It hit certain targets inside the occupied territories by firing dozens of missiles and drones.

This is the first time Iran announced it was using cruise missiles against Israel from Iranian territory.
