Private airline Centrum Air performs first Tashkent to Ferghana flight

New Uzbek airline Centrum Air on February 15 launched its services with a Tashkent to Ferghana flight that carried 86 passengers, Uzbekistan Airports has announced.

The private low-cost carrier is operating the route with an Airbus A320−232.   

On February 17, Centrum Air the will commence charter flights on the Tashkent-Urgench-Tashkent route.

Centrum Air was established by the founders of the cargo airline My Freighter. In January, it received permission for passenger transportation and acquired its first two Airbus A320−232 aircraft. It is expected that a arrival Boeing 737 will be delivered to the airline in the near future.

The company is concentrating on interregional transportation and the development of domestic tourism. It has longer-term plans to expand to international destinations.

There are now four private passenger airlines operating in Uzbekistan.

Qanot Sharq has been operating flights since September 2021 and, with the receipt of new aircraft, it plans to expand the geography of its flights to Vietnam and Thailand.

Another company, Panorama Airways, made its first commercial flight in December.

Air Samarkand is preparing to launch flights. It expects to establish flights from Samarkand to 14 cities in Russia and the Middle East, as well as to India.
