Tehran's interim Friday prayer leader Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami said that US President Donald Trump's treatment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy demonstrated the humiliating fate that awaits those who submit to American influence, state television broadcast March 7.

Friday prayers at Tehran University are the location for the inner machinations of the clerical regime to be disseminated to locals and international press and always reflect the view of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the top cleric in the country.

"Trump's treatment of Zelenskiy demonstrated Zelenskiy's humiliation. This is the fate of those who submit to America," Khatami told worshippers during his sermon at Tehran University.

In a consequential speech echoing the views of the clerical leadership, Khatami warned that such treatment would apply to all US allies. "Those who submit should know this treatment will include them too. This is the nature of the arrogant powers. Reduce your servitude to America."

His comments come as Iran continues to face stringent US sanctions levied by the Trump regime in Washington targeting oil exports.

The senior cleric referenced Iran's supreme leader's position against negotiations with the United States.

"Whatever the supreme leader said about negotiations with America not being honourable or rational, some did not believe. But when they saw Trump's behaviour, they admitted that negotiating with America is not worthy of Iran.

"Negotiating with America means humiliation and disgrace. This is an Ashura-inspired nation and does not accept humiliation," he added.

Khatami criticised recent threats from the United States and European powers regarding Iran's nuclear programme. "America and the European troika threatened that the IAEA board of governors would be forced to take action. Why do you repeat these worn-out statements? You've been repeating these words for 45 years and haven't benefited.

"If you don't stop your threats, the Iranian nation will sweep you from the political scene and existence with its resistance," he warned.

Addressing Turkey's foreign minister's recent remarks, Khatami demanded an explicit apology. "Our policy is one of good neighbourliness. We don't intend to clash with our neighbours, but these statements are against good neighbourliness."

The Turkish government interferes in Syria's government and tells Iran not to interfere in other countries' affairs. The Turkish foreign minister should apologise explicitly; this is in their interest," he said referring to Iran's support for Syria's former regime and supporting militias.

The cleric praised cultural caravans to former war zones and noted the upcoming Martyrs Commemoration Day. "Whatever we have is from the martyrs, and we are indebted to them. Saddam intended to take Tehran in three days. These very martyrs defeated the enemies."
