Slovakia’s unemployment level dropped to 3.79% in February following two consecutive months of slight growth. It is a drop of 0.13 percentage points month on month as well as year on year.
“At the turn of the year we traditionally register slight growth of in unemployment, but already in February the number of people without work dropped again,” commented Peter Omandy, CEO of the Centre for Labour, Social Affairs and Family (PSVR).
“From the long-term perspective we are observing an encouraging, positive development on the labour market,” he added, pointing out that, the number of job applicants is significantly below the 200,000 mark seen three years ago.
The overall figure of job applicants at the end of February was 164,508, down on 166,638 from January and 170,325 in February 2024. The number of available job openings was 101,681 with the capital Bratislava region accounting for 43,382 of these, while the eastern Presov region registered only 2,939 job openings.
