The second district court in Istanbul has ordered the blockage of the X accounts of three famous actors after they called their followers to participate in a boycott, EngelliWeb (@engelliweb), which follows up internet censor in Turkey, reported on April 3.
X has blocked the accounts of Rojda Demirer (@rojdademirer__) and Alican Yucesoy (@alicanyucesoy) through the court order, while it has avoided the censor of Berna Lacin (@bernalacin35_5).
The court has also banned the access to a website (boykotyap.com) launched by the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) twice, along with some other websites launched by private individuals.
X, owned by Elon Musk, has been under renewed pressure from the latest censor wave following the detention of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu on March 19.
“We filed an individual application before the Turkish Constitutional Court challenging an order from the Turkish Information and Communication Technologies Authority to block 126 accounts such as @metcihan, @artigercek, @haykobagdat within Turkey,” X (@GlobalAffairs) said on March 26.
“We object to multiple court orders from the Turkish Information and Communication Technologies Authority to block over 700 accounts of news organisations, journalists, political figures, students and others within Turkey,” it said on March 23.
Musk’s SpaceX launched satellites of Turkey’s state-owned satellite operator Turksat. In exchange for nine digit contracts Musk does public relations (PR) for Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The duo regularly come together and provide the media with visual material (photos and videos). Erdogan is also good with Musk’s son X.

After Erdogan hosted Musk and X at the Turkish House in New York in 2023, Musk posed with Erdogan’s book.

It is no secret that Erdogan was not able to write the book. It is also questionable whether he has at least read his own book.
