Turkish online groceries delivery company Getir has raised $300mn of funding in a new financing round, making the enterprise Turkey’s second tech unicorn thanks to its updated valuation of $2.6bn, co-founder Nazim Salur said on March 26.

In 2020, Peak Games became Turkey’s first tech unicorn. A unicorn is defined as a privately held startup company that reaches a valuation of over $1bn.

The Getir funds were raised via a capital hike. The company's five co-founders retained a combined stake of more than 60%, Salur said.

Existing shareholders led by Sequioa Capital ve Tiger participated in the funding round.

In January, Getir launched operations in London.

Salur said that the company will come online next in Sao Paolo in H2 2021.

Getir, launched in 2015, is also targeting going online in Germany, France (Paris) and the Netherlands within 2021, according to Salur.

Mexico City is another target.
