Following the announcement of the Constitutional Court's ruling on President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment, South Korea's military has increased its surveillance activities against North Korea, Yonhap News Agency reported. The ruling, delivered earlier today, came nearly four months after the National Assembly impeached Yoon for briefly imposing martial law on December 3.

In response to the situation, the military has expanded the use of various surveillance tools, including reconnaissance aircraft and thermal imaging devices. A spokesperson from the Joint Chiefs of Staff explained that these measures are intended to prevent North Korea from making any misjudgements during this sensitive period.

This heightened military readiness comes amidst growing political uncertainty, with the country's top court having ruled on the president's impeachment. The military’s increased vigilance is vital for monitoring the border, especially given North Korea's unpredictable actions.

Following the court's decision, acting Defence Minister Kim Seon-ho is expected to meet with key military commanders to discuss the next steps and assess the security situation. This move highlights South Korea’s commitment to maintaining national security in the face of political and regional challenges.
